HeForShe Champions for Change - USNC UN Women San Francisco Bay Area Chapetr

The Celebration

We invite our community to join us at the HeForShe Champions for Change Celebration, April 14, 2016, to honor Bay Area men who have dedicated their time and resources to advance gender equality or female empowerment in our community and beyond. This is an opportunity to celebrate distinguished men who have dedicated their energies, networks and resources to advance the cause of gender equality or female empowerment.

The Goal

HeForShe Champions for Change supports the UN Women’s global HeForShe campaign by recognizing local Bay Area-based male leaders who embody and exemplify its important principles. By creating a space for celebration and solidarity, we will spread awareness, raise funds for UN Women programs and initiatives, and encourage men to join our cause.

A Solidarity Movement for Gender Equality

HeForShe

HeForShe is a solidarity movement for gender equality launched by UN Women in 2014 to engage men and boys as advocates and agents of change for the achievement of gender equality and women’s rights. The campaign encourages them to speak out and take action against inequalities faced by women and girls. All over the world, men are taking a stand for gender equality.

HeForShe Champions for Change

The HeForShe Champions are men who have advanced the cause of gender equality or female empowerment across a wide spectrum, or in some specific, significant way. They are courageous allies who understand that the fight for gender equality affects us all, and who champion the principles of the HeForShe campaign throughout their lives.

“We are struggling for a uniting word but the good news is we have a uniting movement. It is called HeForShe. I am inviting you to step forward, to be seen to speak up, to be the “he” for “she”. And to ask yourself if not me, who? If not now, when?” — UN Women Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson
